On Tuesday 17 December 2024, the first edition of the Luxembourg Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award was held at the Cercle Cité in Luxembourg City, with "on.perfekt" being announced as the best social enterprise 2024 in Luxembourg.
on.perfekt, whose slogan is "a 2nd chance for our food", packages and sells boxes of fresh vegetables: each Friday it provides an updated list of all the 100% fresh local vegetables in their shop in Marnach that they have "rescued" after being left in the fields, largely due to cosmetic reasons. This means that they use fresh local produce that may otherwise go to waste.
The event was held under the banner of inspiration and commitment of social entrepreneurs and innovators. This flagship event celebrated social entrepreneurship and social innovation in Luxembourg, in the presence of national and international partners.
According to Luxembourg's Ministry of Labour, in his opening speech, Minister Georges Mischo was pleased to note that social entrepreneurship is gaining in importance and visibility, both among young people and businesses. On the same occasion, he not only announced the first Jobday of the social economy on 27 March 2025, but also presented a communication campaign aimed at informing and raising awareness among the general public about the social economy.
Subsequently, budding and established social entrepreneurs were rewarded for their innovative projects that address societal challenges. At the beginning of the evening, the three finalists of the “touch BASE – Be.A.Social.Entrepreneur.” programme had the opportunity to present their projects to the public who determined “Canopi” as the winner of the 2024 edition.
The highlight of the evening was certainly the presentation of the award for the best social enterprise to “on.perfekt”.
