At Wednesday's FTTH (Fibre To The Home) Conference at LuxExpo in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, POST Luxembourg and INEA were both presented with awards recognising their work in bringing fibre technology to homes in Europe.
Both POST Luxembourg and INEA received the FTTH Operator Award, while Professor Hartwig Tauber received the FTTH Individual Award, in recognition of their remarkable involvement in the accelerating the adoption of FTTH in Europe.
For the first time, two companies received the award in the FTTH Operator category in recognition of their efforts in the deployment of advanced fibre optic networks.
- POST Luxembourg received the award for its significant investment in fibre networks at the forefront of technology: in late September 2015, POST had 27,730 FTTH/B subscribers, with over 50% of homes passed, one of the highest rates in Europe for an incumbent operator.
- Co-winner of this award, INEA is an alternative telecom operator in Poland which has contributed to a significant improvement of the Polish market by increasing its FTTH optical fibre networks, especially in suburban and rural areas of Wielkopolska, where FTTH can greatly help reduce the digital divide.
Professor Hartwig Tauber, winner of FTTH Individual Award, has been one of the most active defenders of FTTH in Europe for over a decade. Through his involvement in the FTTH Council Europe, the organisation has managed to grow and make its voice heard in Europe since 2004.
