On Thursday 24 April 2025, Luxembourg’s Customs and Excise Agency announced the recent seizure of approximately 12 kilograms of marijuana following a targeted inspection of a lorry in March 2025.
The inspection was carried out as part of a broader control operation and involved a lorry arriving from abroad that was transporting a large number of cardboard boxes and parcels.
During the operation, drug detection dog Gwen was deployed to assist in examining the cargo. The specially trained sniffer dog alerted officers to two suspicious boxes inside the vehicle.
Upon opening the boxes, customs officers discovered a total of around 12 kilograms of marijuana. Luxembourg Public Prosecutor’s Office ordered the confiscation of the drugs.
Further investigations into the origin and intended delivery of the shipment are currently underway.
Luxembourg’s Customs and Excise Agency has reiterated its commitment to continuing thorough inspections in the logistics sector in order to detect and remove illegal substances at an early stage.
