Luxembourg's Ministry of Finance has warned of phishing emails impersonating the Direct Tax Administration
Scammers are contacting taxpayers, including those based abroad, by email in the name of the Luxembourg tax office by sending account statements showing a balance of taxes to be paid. They demand the payment of a sum of money without delay to avoid the inclusion of late payment interest.
The ministry has confirmed that such documents are fake, including the bank account number indicated to make the payment, as well as the file number. The document contains spelling mistakes and date errors (for example, indicating payments recorded up to 2026).
