The red weather warning for flooding, which was in place for southern Luxembourg over the last few days, has been downgraded to orange for the whole country on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 January 2024.
The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) reported on the evening of Thursday 4 January 2024 that there had been one fallen tree, four flooded cellars and three flooded cars (with one person injured) earlier in the day.
The flood warning service for the Alzette and Sûre rivers is currently in "pre-alert status" (rather than the earlier "alert status"), whilst that of the Moselle river remains on "standby". Further updates are available on the website www.inondations.lu.
Update: As of Saturday 6 January 2024, there is no longer a flood alert in place.
