On Monday 18 December 2023, the Grand Ducal Police confirmed that they had made a number of arrests in connection with burglaries in Luxembourg city and Dudelange.
Firstly, on the evening of Sunday 17 December 2023, a break-in was reported in an office building on Place de la Gare in Luxembourg-Gare. A police patrol was dispatched and, when they arrived at the scene, several people were inside the building and were caught by the police officers. According to initial findings, two suspects broke into the interior of the multi-story building and stole, among other things, laptops.
The suspects were arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor and brought before a judge on the morning of 18 December 2023.
Secondly, and also on the night of Sunday 17 December 2023, break-ins were reported in several commercial buildings on the Route de Luxembourg in Dudelange. According to initial findings, the suspected perpetrators broke open a container and stole cash from within. The suspects then broke open a door to get into an adjacent building and stole cash, among other things.
A police patrol was able to catch the three suspects at the crime scene. They were arrested on the orders of the public prosecutor.
