Asylum Applications in Luxembourg Rise by 9.7% in February

The Directorate of Immigration of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has confirmed that Luxembourg received a total of 147 applications for international protection (asylum) last month.

The number of people applying for asylum in Luxembourg in February 2022 rose by 9.7% over one month (134 in January 2022) and by 126.2% over one year (65 in February 2021).

A total of 285 decisions on asylum applications were taken last month, with 105 applicants being granted refugee status in Luxembourg.

The largest number of applicants seeking asylum in Luxembourg in February 2022 came from Syria (59), followed by Eritrea (25), Venezuela (twelve) and Afghanistan (ten).
