On Wednesday 11 December 2024, the British Ladies Club (BLC) in Luxembourg held their Christmas Lunch at the Hotel Parc Alvisse in Luxembourg-Dommeldange.

A total of 80 members attended the festive event, dressing up for the occasion with sparkling red, gold, green and silver in abundance.

The event got underway with a crémant reception, during which attendees could browse the Christmas Market which comprised half a dozen stall of handcrafts (jewellery, paintings, candles, cards, etc.).

The four course meal started with butternut squash soup, follwed by roast stuffed turkey (with a vegetarian option) and traditional mince pies.

Between courses, the formal part of the event took place, with the new BLC Chairperson, Tursun Aibaevaeva, addressing the event, followed by Danial Shaikh, the Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Luxembourg, who spoke about the importance of having networking organisations such as the BLC outside Britain.

A tombola was held with around a dozen prizes including paintings, meal vouchers, cultural vouchers and bottles of wine and crémant, with the proceeds going to charity.

As the main course was served, Carpe Diem provided the entertainment by performing a number of Christmas Carols and Songs, with attendees joining in for a sing-a-long with Philip Dutton changing from conductor to keyboard player.
