In the early hours of Thursday morning, a fire broke out in a mobile home at Eisenbach campsite, damaging several other homes on the premises.
The owners of the caravan reported that another fire had broken out in their motor home the previous afternoon, with the source found to be the heat from the couple's oven. The first fire was quickly extinguished, and the couple went to bed.
A noise during the night awoke the man involved, who then noticed that the living room was on fire. He and his wife managed to escape from the vehicle and flee the vicinity.
Exploding gas cylinders drove the fire further, completely destroying a total of four campervans and damaging three more. Fire brigades with aerial ladders and an ambulance from the municipalities of Hosingen and Clervaux were brought in, and after an hour the fire was extinguished.
There were no casualties, as none of the vehicles were inhabited at the time, although material destruction remains high.
