On Saturday 12 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported the arrest of two men following several shoplifting incidents and cases of fuel fraud in Weiswampach on Thursday 10 September.
According to the police, officers were called to a shopping centre at around 16:10 after the two men had stolen bottles of alcohol worth several hundred euros. They were found at the scene, where they had already returned the stolen goods to the shop.
Further investigations indicated that the suspects could also be linked to several similar shoplifting incidents and cases of fuel fraud at the same location in recent weeks.
During a subsequent search of their vehicle, police found and seized a further twenty bottles of alcohol.
On the order of the public prosecutor’s office, both men were arrested and brought before an investigating judge. Their vehicle, mobile phones and the suspected stolen goods were also seized.
