National Platform Launched to Promote Cyber Security in Luxembourg

On Monday 8 June 2015, SECURITYMADEIN.LU, the national platform for promoting cyber security, was officially launched in the presence of Secretary of State for the Economy, Francine Closener.

The online platform is an initiative of the "Security Made in Lëtzebuerg" (SMILE) Economic Interest Group (gie), which was commissioned in 2010 by the Ministry of Economy to promote and strengthen information security in Luxembourg.

The objectives of SECURITYMADEIN.LU are:

- to coordinate government initiatives like BEE SECURE (public awareness), CASES (promotion of information security in companies) and CIRCL (coordination of services and post-incident action);

- to support and enhance the visibility and awareness of these initiatives with their target audience;

- to promote the whole community of information security;

- to develop an ecosystem of cyber security that will enhance the visibility of actors and security services in the Luxembourg information.

During the presentation, Secretary of State for the Economy, Francine Closener, recalled that the Luxembourg process of information security is to establish the "security as infrastructure" by making it affordable and accessible to each User: "We are consolidating the existing confidence of all citizens. By integrating the principles of cyber security as in economic policy, we comfort domestic and foreign companies in their thinking to invest in Luxembourg. SECURITYMADEIN.LU and different areas of activity of SMILE are thus an integral part of the national strategy to make the Grand Duchy a true ICT trust centre."

Forging a strong link between the private and public agencies in the economic interest, SMILE includes the Ministry of Economy (which coordinates), the Ministry of Family, Integration and Greater Region and the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth.
