The Ville de Luxembourg has announced that for the second time in as many years, the initiative My Urban Piano will be featured in Luxembourg city, this time with 15 pianos installed in public places from today, Saturday 6 June, for two weeks.
On Friday, Luxembourg city mayor, Lydie Polfer, officiated at the launch of the project at the Cercle Cité on Place dArmes.
From 6 June to 21 June 2015, fifteen pianos, including a mobile one, are installed in city streets, attractions, neighbourhoods and parks in the Luxembourg capital to enliven public spaces. Each piano has been decorated and embellished by various associations, artistic and educational organisations. Amateur or experienced musicians alike, for two weeks, are invited to spontaneously improvise microconcerts and vibrate the Capital with piano music.
The closing concert of "My Urban Piano" will be held Sunday 21 June 2015 at 15:00 in the courtyard of the Cité judiciaire with 16 students of the Conservatory of the City of Luxembourg to play on four pianos (duration: +/- 1 hour). Free admission.
During the period from 6 to 21 June 2015, anyone who uploads a video to Facebook or YouTube showing a microconcert or animation around a piano, tagged with the keyword "luxembourgcity" can win an iPad. To participate, just send the link to the video at concours@vdl.lu with the name of the person filming, address and phone number.
