On Tuesday, Luxembourg's State Secretary for Housing, Marc Hansen, and representatives of the Office of SIKOR (Syndicat intercommunal du Kordall) signed an agreement for financial support from the Ministry of Housing for the Kordall social real estate project.
The project aims to deploy non-occupied dwellings in the municipalities of Kordall that started a year ago concerning making 25 low-rent housing units available to low-income households. The Ministry of Housing now support this project through an agreement providing a financial contribution by lodging and per month.
As part of the terms of the project, the maximum rent is set at €10/m2 (down to as low as €6/m2) with a minimum rental period of 2 years. Applicants must not be the owner of a house or apartment anywhere, inside or outside the Grand Duchy, and must have resided with Kordall for at least 2 years to qualify. Kordall includes the towns of Differdange, Käerjeng, Pétange and Sanem.
The results of the inter-municipal pilot project will be reviewed after 2 years as input for future such projects.
