STATEC, the national institute of statistics and economic studies, has reported that the profile of foreign voters who could participate in parliamentary elections, if a constitutional amendment is decided following the 7 June Referendum, are younger, more active professionals from the private sector, using data from the 2011 population census.
With an average age of 46.7 years old, potential foreign voters are almost three years younger than the current Luxembourg voters. Nearly 60% of potential voters are employed, which is only the case for 50% of the local electorate.
Among the employed foreign (potential) voters, 76.7% work in the private sector, compared to 51.1% of the Luxembourg electorate.
