Luxembourg-based Ukrainian artist Tetiana Popyk (Tanita) has announced the opening reception of her exhibition “BeComing”, scheduled to take place at 18:30 on Thursday 16 April 2026 at the CAW gallery in Walferdange.
According to the artist, the exhibition explores identity as a continuous process shaped by cultural systems and inherited female archetypes. Through photography, mixed media and conceptual photo collage, “BeComing” reflects on how femininity is constructed through visual codes, memory and social structures. The series moves from restrained black-and-white portraits that question established norms of gender, androgyny and authority to vibrant Mexican-inspired collages and reinterpreted ethnographic elements.
“Identity is never fixed. It is always becoming,” the artist noted, adding that rather than illustrating identity, the works examine its architecture — how inherited narratives define women’s roles and how these narratives can be reconsidered. Rather than asking who we are, “BeComing” considers which archetypes of womanhood we inherit, which we embody and which we consciously choose to transform.
Visitors will also be able to access a dedicated QR code for each artwork, where a short reflection and a curated musical composition accompany the visual piece, creating what the artist described as a quiet dialogue between image and melody.
The exhibition will run from Friday 17 April to Saturday 3 May 2026. It will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 15:00 to 19:00 and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 14:00 to 18:00. Entry is free.
