On Thursday 10 October 2024, Luxembourg's Minister of Culture, Eric Thill, presented the Luxembourg Art Prize 2024 to the family of Marc Henri Reckinger (1940 – 2023), during a ceremony at the National Museum. 

The award ceremony took place as part of the opening of the Marc Henri Reckinger exhibition. 

The Luxembourg Art Prize 2024 pays homage to the late artist by presenting a selection of his most emblematic works.

In his speech, the minister emphasised the laureate's commitment to the national cultural scene: "the laureate's artistic work remains of great relevance today. With his sensitivity for socio-political subjects, the artist offers us valuable perspectives on the great challenges of our time. His creations show us how art can contribute to addressing essential societal issues and encourage the public to think critically."

The director of the MNAHA, Michel Polfer, took the opportunity of the opening to thank the MNAHA team as well as all the actors involved in the conception and realization of the exhibition.

The jury for the 2024 edition of the prize was composed of Jamie Armstrong, Christian Mosar, Ruud Priem, Edmond Thill and Danièle Wagener.

Endowed with €10,000, this biennial prize recognises an artist for the ensemble of their work, their career as well as their lasting commitment to the Luxembourg artistic scene. Artists active in the field of visual arts, of Luxembourg nationality, living/working in Luxembourg or having strong cultural roots in the country's artistic scene are eligible.

The exhibition Marc Henri Reckinger. The Luxembourg Art Prize 2024 is open to the public from 11 October 2024 until 16 March 2025 at the National Museum at the Fish Market. A second part of the exhibition will also be held at the Centers d'art Nei Liicht and Dominique Lang in Dudelange from 12 October 2024 until 16 March 2025.

Luxembourg Music Awards 2024

84 nominators from the music sector are invited to propose three names of artists or projects in various categories that have been particularly distinguished over the past two years. A jury will then select the nominees in each category and designate the laureate. The same jury will also designate the laureate of the National Music Prize.

The Luxembourg Music Awards of the Ministry of Culture will be awarded on 19 December 2024 at a ceremony at the Philharmonie.
