Christine Kieffer and Stefanie Zutter of Artscape have announced that House 17 (17 rue du Nord in Luxembourg city) is hosting an art exhibition from 26 May to 30 July 2016, curated by Erna Hecey about the diversity of portrait in contemporary art, also sponsored by Tareno (Luxembourg) S.A.
Portrait at Large features works of the Erna Hecey Collection and Guests. After its first show People/Identities, Portrait at Large explores the human condition as seen by contemporary artists across a wide range of expressions. Through their cooperation with internationally renowned gallerist Erna Hecey, ARTSCAPE wishes to express their admiration and esteem of her work at the forefront of contemporary art.
Portrait at Large looks at one of the oldest artistic forms of expression, from both a critical and a metaphoric perspective. By representing the body in an iconic or an ironic way, by rendering anonymous faces, or by putting the model in an unsuspected place, the artist goes beyond the characteristic form of portraiture and associates contemporary and historic readings of portraiture. This group show brings together art works in a wide range of media and formats by Beat Streuli (Switzerland); Jan Van Imschoot, Johan Grimonprez, Lili Dujourie (Belgium); Christian Aschman (Luxembourg); Guillaume Bruère, Suzanne Lafont, Fabrice Hyber (France); Rainer Oldendorf (Germany); Tom Sanford, Eleanor Antin (USA); Uri Tzaig (Israel); Little Warsaw (Hungary); Rafal Bujnowski (Poland). Many of them are not only well positioned on the global art market but have entered public collections such as the Mudam, the National Library of Luxembourg, Law firm Arendt & Medernach, as well as Luxemburgish private collections.
The vernissage will take place at House 17 on Thursday 26 May 2016 at 18:00.
The exhibition will be open Monday to Saturday 11:00 to 19:00.
