Luxembourg-based artist Carine Krecké has been awarded the 2016 artist residency at the Cité internationale des arts de Paris.
In total, eight proposals were submitted following a call for applications launched by the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture, which were then assessed by a jury panel made up of chairwoman Valérie Quilez, Aline Bouvy and Jo Kox at a meeting held on Monday 11 April 2016.
The jury unanimously decided to award the residency to Carine Krecké and her project 'état(s) d'urgence' ('State(s) of Emergency'), which seeks to explore the notion of a state of emergency in both its current French and wider European contexts.
The Ministry of Culture has owned a quarter of a housing-workshop at the Cité International des Arts in Paris since 1963 and uses it for its residency programme for which it regularly launches calls for proposals.
