Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the emergency services have confirmed that the Grand Duchy has evacuated an injured individual from Armenia to Spain, following the escalation of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.

On Tuesday 10 October 2023, Luxembourg Air Ambulance evacuated a first injured individual from Armenia to Madrid, Spain to receive specialised medical care. The evacuation was carried out in coordination between the Directorate for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS).

The evacuations of three other people are planned for Wednesday 11, Thursday 12 and Friday 13 October 2023, respectively.

Co-financed by Luxembourg's Foreign Ministry and the European Union as part of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, the evacuations are carried out using the flight hours reserved for medical evacuations of the emergency.lu platform and aim to provide adequate treatment to displaced people having suffered serious injuries and burns following the escalation of the conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
