From Sunday 16 to Tuesday 18 February 2025, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, made the first stop of his working visit to the United States, in San Francisco.
As reported by Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Minister Bettel had a bilateral meeting in San Francisco with Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, member of the United States House of Representatives. He also visited several companies, namely Salesforce, Waymo, OpenAI and Zoox.
Minister Bettel thanked Nancy Pelosi for her presence in Luxembourg during the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge in December 2024 and reassured himself that she is doing well after her fall at the Grand Ducal Palace. Ms Pelosi thanked the Luxembourg authorities for their support after her accident.
The company visits explored how artificial intelligence (AI) can be integrated into business life and public services. During the meetings/visits, Minister Bettel presented the Luxembourg ecosystem while discussing recent and future developments in AI, particularly in the areas of customer relationship management (CRM), cloud solutions and autonomous driving.
