EDF, the operator of the Cattenom nuclear power plant in France, has reported that Reactor 2 was shut down during the night of Wednesday 4 October to Thursday 5 October 2023.
The reactor in question, which had been previously shut down on Wednesday 20 September 2023 to allow the team to carry out various interventions on a water supply system located in the engine room (non-nuclear part), was once again turned off to allow a similar water supply maintenance operation.
Reactor 1 has also been shut down for maintenance since 30 September 2023. EDF confirmed that the four reactors at the Cattenom nuclear power plant are currently in operation and supplying the electricity network.
