Luxembourg Finance Minister, Gilles Roth, will participate in the meetings of the Eurogroup and the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (Ecofin) in Brussels on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 January 2025.

The Eurogroup Finance Ministers will discuss priorities and challenges for the euro area in the new European policy cycle. This discussion will be followed by a preliminary exchange on the draft recommendation for the euro area for 2025.

The following day, the Ecofin Council will meet for the first time under the Polish Presidency. In the framework of the 2025 European Semester, the Council is expected to approve recommendations for the first national medium-term budgetary and structural plans. Finance Ministers are also expected to approve recommendations under the excessive deficit procedure for Member States that have exceeded the ceilings set in the Stability and Growth Pact.
