On the initiative of Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture, 13 musical instruments were presented on Monday in Cap Verde: 12 instruments originate from military music (2 oboes, one English horn, 4 clarinets, one saxophone, 1 trumpet and 3 basses) and a bass offered by musician Marc Demuth.

Within the framework of cultural cooperation with Cap Verde, the Ministry of Culture collects instruments from various orchestras and bands that are being replaced by new instruments. The main purpose is to support emerging orchestras and bands in Cap Verde.

The idea for this action was born in 2013 during a visit of the Minister of Culture of Cap Verde to Luxembourg. It was then realised thanks to the logistical support of the Sales-Lentz group and surrender took place aboard the MV Artania in Praia in Cap Verde.

Cultural cooperation between Cap Verde and the Grand Duchy also includes cooperation between the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra (OPL) and the National Orchestra of Cap Verde. The orchestra was founded in 2014 and OPL musicians are founding members. In September 2015 a Jazz Workshop took place in Cap Verde led by the jazz trio Reis Demuth Wiltgen, and since 2014 there have been Luxembourg participation in the Kriol Jazz Festival. Also, the "Casa Cabo Verde Luxemburgo" Santo Antao cultural centre is taking shape.
