Jean Asselborn will be returning to Athens today to review the refugee situation, following his visit earlier this month during which the first 30 asylum seekers were relocated from Greece to Luxembourg under the mechanism agreed in September earlier this year.
The Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Minister of Immigration and Asylum, is in the Greek capital for a bilateral meeting with the Greek Minister for Immigration, Yiannis Mouzalas, where the two will examine the latest developments in the contect of the refugee crisis in Europe and review the operationalisation of EU measures and the refugee situation on the ground.
During his visit to Athens, Minister Asselborn will also meet with officials of the High Commission of the United Nations for Refugees (UNHCR ), the European Support Office for asylum (AAIB / EASO ) and FRONTEX , to exchange information.
