On Friday 27 November 2015 marked the opening of the Christmas market in Strasbourg, where the Grand Duchy is this year being celebrated as the guest of honour with a special Luxembourg Village, inaugurated the following day, Saturday 28 November 2015.

Secretary of State of Luxembourg, Francine Closener, was present for both occasions. Composed of 13 chalets, the Luxembourg Village is situated at Place Gutenberg, mere steps away from the cathedral. Twenty Luxembourgish exhibitors are showcasing their talents through a range of products, including decorative items, jewellery, clothing and accessories, as well as creations from the various workshops of the social and solidarity economy. Visitors have the opportunity to taste Luxembourg specialities and local produce.

"Our presence here enables thousands or even hundred of thousands of visitors from all over the world to discover the charms and the expertise of the Grand Duchy," commented Francine Closener at Saturday's opening of the Luxembourg village. "The public will have the opportunity to see the attractions of my country, the diversity of its touristic and cultural offer as well as the expertise of its artisans and designers. We want to inspire the many visitors to the Christmas market to also spend a day exploring the Grand Duchy."

The Luxembourg Village at the Christmas market in Strasbourg was established through a joint collaboration between the departments of the Ville de Luxembourg, the Chambre de Commerce, Chambre des Métiers, Office national du tourisme, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office, the four regional tourism offices as well as various government services and administrations.

The Union luxembourgeoise de l'économie sociale et solidaire (ULESS) will be holding a special visit to the market for its members on 6 December to thank them for their contribution to the Luxembourg Village.
