On Tuesday 24 November 2015, Minister of Sports Romain Schneider will chair the 'Sport' panel of the Council of Education, Youth, Culture and Sports taking place in Brussels.
During the 'Sport' component, which Minister Schneider will chair as part of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the EU, ministers will be invited to adopt:
- Council conclusions on the review of the resolution of 2011 concerning the representation of EU Member States within the Foundation Board of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the coordination of EU Member States' positions before each WADA meeting;
- Conclusions on promoting motor, physical and sport activity among children, particularly infants
The Council will also hold a policy debate on the educational potential of sport, looking at 'How to Help Disadvantaged Young People Find their Place in Society' within the context of the current migrant situation in Europe.
Richard Allicock, Community Development Manager at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, and double Olympic Champion Edwin Moses will host this debate through presentations and shared experiences. Edwin Moses is chairman of the 'Laureus World Sports Awards', a foundation which aims to promote and increase participation in sport for all and use sport as a tool for social change to help youth around the world.
Finally, the future Dutch Presidency will present its 'Sport' priorities for the first half of 2016.
