Ceramics company, Villeroy & Boch, presented a cheque for €750 to NGO SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde, the proceeds from their decision to direct 10% of December sales of their Rovaniemi mug, part of the NewWave Caffe Cities of the World collection, towards the project.
Laurent Turmes, managing director of Villeroy & Boch S.à.r.l. and international marketing director for the tableware division, presented the cheque to Sophie Glesener, director of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, during a ceremony at the association's offices.
The money will go towards projects in São Domingos in Cape Verde where the Luxembourg NGO funded the construction of a youth centre. Its local SOS partner on site, committed to improving working conditions for young people in the country where unemployment has reached peak levels, has developed a professional integration programme there.
On behalf of the team at SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, Sophie Glesener thanked Laurent Turmes and the Villeroy & Boch teams.
"SOS believes that no child should grow up alone and focuses on the protection and the rights of children. It aims to strengthen the capacities of the community so that it can provide a protective environment for children and become empowered. It encourages young people to take an active part in decisions that affect their lives,” she said.
Laurent Turmes concluded, "on behalf of the company, I commend the unfailing commitment of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde and I am delighted that, through the Christmas campaign, Villeroy & Boch has been able to make a contribution and as such support one of the association's major projects.”
