The Mullerthal Region is well known for holidays or stays in spring, summer and autumn. People stroll along the impressive rock formations of Luxembourg's Little Switzerland, hike some stages of the Mullerthal Trail or do some local hiking paths and visit the castles and other attractions.
But why not visit the region in winter?
During winter, the situation is a bit different from the peak season. On the one hand, many sites and some accommodation are closed, and the weather might not be as "good" as during the warmer months. On the other hand, nature shows its pure beauty and, especially in the cold season, the spectacular 200-million-year-old rock formations radiate their peculiar charm. The dense canopy of leaves is gone, so the impressive rocks in the Mëllerdall UNESCO Global Geopark can occupy the space for themselves.
But where can one stay in winter? You would be surprised by the number of accommodation establishments, such as hotels, B&Bs and youth hostels, that remain open. Winter camping is also a very attractive option that enables you to stay close to nature. The campsites offer pods, lodges, sleeping barrels, igloos or tipis.
Where can one find all this information? The regional tourist office has set up a section about winter on its homepage: www.mullerthal.lu/en/discover/winter. In addition to the Christmas and winter markets, you will also find suggestions for winter hikes, culinary offers and accommodation options.
Find out yourself and allow the Mullerthal Region to enchant you this winter with its mysterious fields of mist, frozen brooks and a nature covered in frost...
