The Luxembourg Red Cross is organising a Gala Concert on 23 April 2019 at the Philharmonie, from 20:00.

The European Union Youth Orchestra, under the baton of Vasily Petrenko, and soprano Kristine Opolais will perform the following works: Michaïl Ivanovitch Glinka's "Rouslan and Ludmilla: Ouverture"; Sergueï Rachmaninov's "How fair this spot, op. 21/7" (arranged by Michael Rot); Piotr Ilitch Tchaïkovski's "Eugene Onegin: Polonaise" and "Puiskai pogibnu ya, (Eugene Onegin) op. 24/9"; Dmitri Chostakovitch's Symphony N° 10.

The Philharmonie supports the Luxembourg Red Cross' endeavours by presenting a benefit concert every year; this season, proceeds will go to the project of a holiday camp for handicapped and socially disadvantaged children. For this good cause, the European Union Youth Orchestra will play later this month. The orchestra was founded in 1976 in the spirit of a united Europe.
