Details: In May a John Martyn concert was put on by Matt Dawson and Tanja Silcher at the Decibel Café in Luxembourg-ville. Due to popular demand, there will be a repeat performance of John Martyn music at the Kasematten Theatre on Saturday 4 October at 20:00.
Singer and folk/blues guitarist Matt Dawson and jazz contrabassist Tanja Silcher have announced details of their new project “An evening with the music of John Martyn” at the Kasemattentheater.

Singer and folk/blues guitarist Matt Dawson has teamed up with virtuoso jazz contrabassist Tanja Silcher: together they will pay tribute to the music of maverick British singer/guitarist John Martyn (1948-2009). Martyn was an inventive, erratic genius, known primarily for his musical marriage of folk and jazz: he became one of the most distinctive and prolific artists of his generation.
Matt Dawson (Matt Dawson and the Warehouse Band, Claudine Muno and the Luna Boots, The Shanes, Julian Dawson) has been a fan of John Martyn since he was a teenager, and a chance meeting with bassist Tana Silcher provided the opportunity. Matt has recorded seven CDs of original songs, & toured as pedal-steel guitarist, but his first love remains acoustic music. He is currently working on a new CD, featuring Albert Lee on guitar and mandolin. Matt is also an astronomer and asteroid discoverer.
Tanja Silcher has more than twenty years of musical experience. After six years of flute lessons she went to piano lessons for about 4 years. She also took guitar lessons and decided to study classical guitar on the PH Ludwigsburg for two semesters.
