The Comité pour une Paix Juste au Proche-Orient asbl (CPJPO; Committee for Fair Peace in the Middle East) is organising a pro-Palestine rally in Luxembourg City on Saturday 13 January 2024, starting at 14:30.

The CPJPO noted that Saturday will mark 100 days since Israel "committed war crimes of an unprecedented scale against the population of Gaza". The non-profit described the "large-scale killing of civilians", "collective punishment" (associated with the blockade) and "epidemiological warfare", among other actions, as war crimes.

In this context, South Africa recently filed a complaint with the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Legal developments are expected this week before Saturday's demonstration.

Participants in the rally will march to "condemn [the Luxembourg] government's refusal to denounce war crimes and to take a stand in favour of an immediate ceasefire". The CPJPO also called on the Luxembourg government to support South Africa's complaint.

The demonstration will begin in front of the US Embassy in Luxembourg (22 Boulevard Emmanuel Servais, L-2535). The CPJPO accused the United States of being "the main co-responsible [party] for war crimes committed against the Palestinian population", through its "massive military and financial aid" for Israel.
