Luxembourg's Economic Committee has granted requests for short-time work (partial unemployment) for 10,185 employees for the month of June 2022.

The Economic Committee met on Thursday 19 May 2022 to analyse the labour market situation for the month of April 2022 and the national economic situation.

For the month of May 2022, the number of applications submitted for partial unemployment decreased by 104 units compared to the previous month. A total of 543 companies have submitted a request for partial unemployment in order to be able to benefit from the provisions of this measure over the next month.

After analysing the applications submitted, the Economic Committee approved 527 applications, with the final decision on the allocation of this support resting with the Government Council.

Among the 527 approved requests, 470 were related to simplified structural economic problems linked to COVID-19. 54 others related to the manufacturing sector, whilst three requests were related to economic dependence.

The granted requests for the month of June concern 10,185 full-time employees (up from 11,684 in May). 

The Economic Committee also approved the extension of an existing job retention plan and partially approved a new plan.

Finally, the Economic Committee approved one request for tax exemption of voluntary severance pay, concerning eighteen people.
