On Thursday 25 June 2026, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) reported that Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Minister for Home Affairs Léon Gloden visited the Operations Management Centre (Centre de Gestion des Opérations - CGO) at the National Fire and Rescue Centre (Centre National d'Incendie et de Secours - CNIS) in Luxembourg-Gasperich to review the emergency response measures implemented during the ongoing heatwave.

According to the CGDIS, the Operations Management Centre serves as the central coordination structure for field operations, maintaining an overall view of the operational situation and coordinating the resources required to ensure an effective response to emergencies across the country.

CGO Coordinator Captain Sven Viktor presented an interim overview of the week, outlining the preventive measures introduced to ensure sufficient personnel and equipment remain available as operational demand continues to increase.

The ministers were also presented with figures highlighting the exceptional mobilisation of CGDIS volunteer firefighters, supported by professional firefighters and other national partners.

Following the intensive period linked to National Day celebrations across the country, the emergency services are now experiencing the effects of the prolonged heatwave. On Wednesday 24 June 2026 alone, emergency services responded to 350 incidents, mainly involving assistance to persons, representing a 68% increase compared with normal activity.

The CGDIS also noted that the Prime Minister Frieden and Minister Gloden thanked all emergency teams for their continued mobilisation in the coming days. They also reminded the public to follow the authorities' recommendations in order to protect themselves and avoid placing additional pressure on the emergency services.
