On Monday 14 September 2026, the Grand Ducal Police reported two arrests following separate incidents in Ettelbruck and Luxembourg City.

According to the police, on Friday 11 September at around 15:30, an accident involving two vehicles occurred on Avenue des Alliés in Ettelbruck, causing only minor material damage.

When an occupant of the vehicle in front wanted to notify the police, the other driver continued driving and fled the scene of the accident. In doing so, the man was lightly struck on the foot by the vehicle. According to initial information, he did not suffer any injuries.

During the search that was launched, the vehicle being sought was later located and stopped at the Schinker roundabout in Parc Hosingen. The driver was then checked, and it was established that he was subject to a driving ban. In addition, an alcohol test returned a positive result.

On the order of the public prosecutor’s office, the vehicle and a mobile phone were seized. The man was arrested and brought before an investigating judge the following morning.

In the early evening of Sunday 13 September, police were called to a supermarket on Place de la Gare at the main railway station after a man had stolen various food items and alcoholic drinks.

The suspect was detained by security staff at the scene until police arrived. The man was clearly under the influence of alcohol.

Later that same evening, the man returned to the same shop and again stole several items without paying for them. Once again, he was stopped by security staff and handed over to police.

On the order of the public prosecutor’s office, the man was arrested and brought before an investigating judge the following morning.
