The number of jobseekers registered with the ADEM in Luxembourg has increased by 2.1% over one year.

As of 31 May 2019, the number of available jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 15,124. Over one year, this represents an increase of 316 people, or 2.1%. Compared to April 2019, however, the number of available resident jobseekers fell by 329 persons or 2.1% due to seasonal variations. 

The number of available non-resident jobseekers registered with the ADEM was 2,475 at the end of May 2019, a decrease of 6.5% compared to May 2018. The number of non-resident jobseekers with reduced work capacity decreased by 7.0%, whilst that of non-residents without this status decreased by 4.9% compared to May last year.

In the course of May 2019, the ADEM opened 2,070 new applications from resident jobseekers, an increase of 16.3% compared to May 2018. In addition, 458 new applications from non-resident jobseekers were opened, which represents an increase of 103.6% over one year.

Meanwhile, the total number of beneficiaries of employment benefits in Luxembourg was 4,237 at the end of May 2019. Over one year, this represents a drop of 207 people, or 4.7%.

During the month of May 2019, employers reported 3 465 vacancies to ADEM, which equated to 314 or 8.3% fewer posts than in May 2018.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate calculated by STATEC was 5.5%.
