A new Grand-Ducal Regulation decreasing the driving times of bus drivers will come into force this Sunday 28 October 2018.

The new regulation allows bus drivers to split driving and rest times on routes under 50km in length as well as the amendment to the collective agreement signed on 10 April 2017 and coming into force this weekend.

Luxembourg trade union LCGB, whose efforts over the past four years contributed to the adoption of this regulation, have now requested that negotiations resume on the other unresolved matters from the collective agreement. At a conference of delegates on 19 September 2018, the LCGB had already been mandated to resume negotiations for the conclusion of a collective agreement once this Grand-Ducal regulation came into force.

As the FTAAA had stated at the last negotiating meeting that it was ready to continue negotiations on the other important issues and renewed its written proposal, the LCGB will continue its struggle for the improvement of working and wage conditions for all employees in the sector (bus and van drivers as well as technical and administrative staff) in Luxembourg.

Negotiations will include the demand for a 2% salary increase for minibus drivers as well as a linear increase of all salary categories and administrative employees of about 0.5% per year for 3 years, Sunday work with a minimum of 4 hours paid and additional leave as compensation for the non-observance of a 45-hour weekly break including sick leave.
