The employment rate in Luxembourg has fallen by 3.6% in one year.
As of 31 December 2016, a total of 18,185 job seekers had been registered, thus bringing the employment rate to 6.3%. With a decrease of 680 people looking for employment in comparison to December 2015, that the employment rate in the Grand Duchy had fallen by 3.6%.
The decrease is widespread across various sectors and also affects the most vulnerable job seekers such as those with health problems, which has decreased by 7.4% in one year, those over the age of 50, which decreased by 2.1%, and those registered for at least 12 months, which fell by 3.8%.
The number of job seeker registrations fell by 198 people over the past year, making the total 1,740 people.
Meanwhile, during the month of December 2016, employers announced 1,952 job vacancies to the employment agency ADEM (Agence pour le développement de l'emploi), which is 1.4% more than in December 2015.
