The collective wage agreement for state employees will come into effect in Luxembourg on 1 January 2017.
On 19 December 2016, the Luxembourg Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reform, Dan Kersch, along with the OGBL (Onofhängege Gewerkschafts-Bond Lëtzebuerg) trade union’s general secretary, Christian Sikorski, and the secretary for LCGB (Lëtzebuerger chrëschtleche Gewerkschafts-Bond), Céline Conter, signed the collective wage agreement at the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform.
The negotiations, which took place between the government delegations and also between those of OGBL and LCGB, began at the start of 2016 and were carried out in a constructive atmosphere.
In July this year, the negotiations led to an agreement encompassing various measures with regard to salaries and others favouring state employees. The agreement will affect trial periods, contract durations and extra working hours, amongst other aspects of employment by the state.
The agreement signed yesterday, which was developed amongst various members of the governments and trade unions, will implement the measures put forward in July 2016.
The collective wage agreement will come into force on 1 January 2017 and will be valid until 31 December 2019.
