Luxembourg's Ministry of Research and Higher Education has reported that 325 students received their advanced technician's training certificate (Brevet de technicien supérieur - BTS) during the 2023/2024 academic year.

At two ceremonies, held on Wednesday 9 and Friday 11 October 2024 in the grand auditorium of the Maison du Savoir on the University of Luxembourg's Belval Campus, 281 students were awarded their BTS diplomas. In total, including the diplomas awarded at the end of the winter semester, 325 BTS diplomas were issued in 2023/2024.

The recipients came from 36 different courses. The very first diplomas were awarded in two courses, namely in the BTS "Finance et produits financiers" (finance and financial products) offered by the ECG School of Business and Management and the BTS "Building Information Modeling" offered by the Lycée Josy Barthel Mamer (LJBM).

In her speeches, Stéphanie Obertin, Luxembourg's Minister for Research and Higher Education, spoke of the "success story" of the BTS, whose training offer has diversified considerably over the last fifteen years. She attributed this success to the versatile nature of the training path leading to the BTS. On the one hand, the BTS constitutes a highly specialised professional qualification, which opens doors to the world of work. On the other hand, the BTS is also a fully recognised higher education diploma that meets European standards and quality criteria as set out in the Bologna process and which can thus constitute the first step in a higher education pathway.

"With the transversal skills that you have been able to acquire as part of your BTS training, you are best prepared, whatever path you take, to play an active role in tomorrow's society," emphasised the minister when addressing the students.
