Luxair, the flag carrier airline of Luxembourg, has announced that it is launching a competition for artists from the Grand Duchy and the Greater Region to design its new livery.

This year, Luxair celebrates the 60th anniversary of the first flight from Luxembourg to Paris in 1962. To mark this occasion, Luxair is launching a competition and inviting all artists from Luxembourg and the Greater Region to draw their vision of the airline's future through its next livery.

As part of Luxair's #FlyingIsAnArt concept, artists willing to take up this new challenge are called upon to demonstrate their creativity and to transport passengers on an extraordinary journey.

Inclusiveness, diversity, boldness and positive messages... these are the values that Luxair wishes to share, across Europe and beyond, on the fuselage of one of its Boeing 737.

Following a first collaboration with local artist Sumo in July 2020, this new competition forms part of Luxair's efforts to frequently reinvent itself and offer its customers a unique flight experience, combining art and travel.

On 26 February 2022 and after eighteen months in the air, the colourful Boeing 737-800 with the registration number LX-LGU, nicknamed "Sumo Fliger" (Sumo plane), retired to make way for its successor. The artist who will see his / her work fly in the air will be chosen on the basis of the opinion of a jury, presided over by the artist Sumo, who was also the initiator of the #FlyingIsAnArt concept. This new aircraft will then convey the values of Luxair through many Luxair and LuxairTours destinations.

Artwork submissions will be accepted until the 28 March 2022 at 23:59. All information concerning the conditions of participation and deposits can be found on the Luxair website: https://www.luxair.lu/en/offers/flyingisanart.
