Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has confirmed that Luxembourg has followed up on a recommendation of the government's cabinet concerning the temporary restriction on travel to the EU by removing Japan from the list of countries from where travellers are restricted.

As from Monday 8 February 2021, Japan has been withdrawn from the list of third countries whose residents are exempt from temporary restrictions at the external borders of Luxembourg in relation to non-essential trips to Luxembourg - which are currently in force until 31 March 2021.

As a result, third-country nationals having their residence in Japan will therefore no longer be authorised to enter the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg from 8 February 2021 for non-essential travel.

The updated list of third countries whose residents are not affected by the temporary restrictions at Luxembourg borders for non-essential trips is therefore now as follows:

• Australia
• China (subject to confirmation of reciprocity at European Union level)
• South Korea
• New Zealand
• Rwanda
• Singapore
• Thailand

Residents of one of the aforementioned countries must also present a negative COVID-19 test prior to boarding their flight, and they also must undergo an additional test on arrival, according to the measures in place since 29 January 2021.
