Today, Tuesday 1 March 2016, the first plane took off from Luxembourg to Warsaw inaugurating a new route, flown by LOT Polish Airlines in codeshare with Luxair, enabling air passengers travelling from Luxembourg visit Warsaw or to use the airport hub as a gateway to many worldwide destinations, with passengers needing only 30 minutes of transfer time.

The first flight saw passengers on board of the plane from Luxembourg to Warsaw welcomed with special muffins and were offered a glass of Champagne and Luxembourgish chocolates in the gate. The celebrations of the inaugural Luxembourg-Warsaw flight also included a baptism using water cannons, a ribbon-curring ceremony at the gate and the cutting of a cake specially made and decorated for the occasion.

Warsaw hub provides connections to northern and eastern European destinations including Stockholm, Palanga, Vilnius, Kosice, Bucharest, Sofia, Riga, Istanbul and Budapest. For example, a flight from Luxembourg to Vilnius via Warsaw takes just 3 hours and 40 minutes of total travel time.

LOT operates flights from Warsaw to Luxembourg six times a week. Departure from Warsaw is scheduled at 07:30 and the arrival to Luxembourg at 09:30. The return flight from Luxembourg is scheduled at 10:10 and the arrival in Warsaw at 12:05 Mondays to Thursdays. With such a schedule LOT’s clients can benefit from all LOT’s afternoon departures to Northern and Eastern Europe, North America and Asia. On Fridays and Sundays, the planes will take off from Warsaw at 14:30  to arrive at 16:30. The return flights from Luxembourg are scheduled at 17:05 and arrive in Warsaw at 19:00.

The Luxembourg – Warsaw connection is operated by Embraer jets, offering passengers spacious cabins and no middle seats. LOT is the only airline operating from its Warsaw hub to offer as much as three service classes adjusted to needs and expectations of different groups of passengers on short haul, European flights. LOT Business Class means all priorities at the airport, business lounge access, personalised service, gourmet meals and drinks served on porcelain tableware and a seat next to passengers blocked for their comfort. LOT Premium Economy Class gives passengers priority check-in and boarding, enriched meal and drinks service and a seat at the front of the cabin. Today, apart from a new connection to Luxembourg, LOT has also opened its new route to Ljubljana, from Warsaw. Only by the end of March, LOT will be operating flights to 18 new destinations including recently opened direct Warsaw - Tokyo route and other destinations such as Athens, Nice, Beirut, Kosice, Palanga and Kharkiv.
