The prominent gathering consisted of representatives of the Henan government, Zhengzhou airport and HNCA and was led by Mr. Guo Gengmao, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of Henan Province. Luxembourg was represented by Mr. François Bausch, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, Mr. Tom Weisgerber, Premier Conseiller de Gouvernement, as well as Mr. Paul Helminger, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cargolux Airlines, Mr. Dirk Reich, President & CEO of Cargolux Airlines and members of the Executive Committee, among others.
Other guests in attendance included Mr. Sun Tingxi, Director-General of Development and Reform Committee of Henan Province; Ms. Song Liping, Director-General of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Henan Province, and Mr. Zhu Mengzhou, Director-General of Agriculture Department of Henan Province. The group visited the Cargolux Maintenance Center and flight simulator, as well as Cargolux’s 747-8 freighter LX-VCJ, City of Zhengzhou, during a tour of the Luxair CargoCenter.
The meeting concluded twelve months of initiatives from the cooperative, including a bi-weekly Trans-Pacific service between Zhengzhou and Chicago, established by Cargolux in March, as well as new flight routes between China and Italy.
The signing of two Memoranda of Understanding during the visit demonstrated a desire from both parties to maintain the impetus of the original agreement, signed in April 2014, and further develop a high level of political and economic contacts between Henan Province and the Grand Duchy.
