On Monday morning between Auchan and Utopolis in Kirchberg, LuxTram unveiled the scale model 1 tram to be used in Luxembourg city from 2017.
The 15m-long, 11-tonnes scale model was unveiled by François Bausch, Luxembourg's Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, Lydie Polfer, Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, Sam Tanson, First Deputy Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, and representatives of the designer (Eric Rhinn, of CAF) and manufacturer (Josu Esnaola).
A temporary pavilion is now open until the end of January 2016 for members of the public to be able to preview the "tram experience." The laying of the tracks from Luxembourg-Gare to Kirchberg will start in early 2016. The 21 rolling stock units (trams) costing €83 million will be transported to Luxembourg from the assembly plant in Spainby road.
