On Monday 28 September 2015, Luxembourg Airport welcomed the inaugural flight of the new Chalair route between Lyon and the Grand Duchy.
The aircraft was baptised, according to tradition, by sprays of water from airport firefighters. The new flight path forms part of the expansion in the range of direct flights offered by Luxembourg Airport, which now comprises 68 destinations.
The Luxembourg-Lyon flights will be conducted as five weekday return trips, or 10 direct, one-way flights. From Monday to Thursday, the plane will take off daily from Lyon at 11:00 and arrive in Luxembourg at 12:20, with the return flight departing at 16:00 to reach Lyon at 17:20. On Fridays, the plane will depart from Lyon at 15:50 to arrive at Luxembourg Airport at 17:10. The Chalair will leave at 17:40 to arrive in Lyon at 19:00.
