Following Thursday's 24-hour warning action by Cargolux pilots, the LCGB trade union has issued a statement in which it states that it considers the response of Cargolux's management as unacceptable and claim that the reactions will not help to re-establish a safety culture and trust within the company.
The warning action was launched early Thursday morning and affected the worldwide network of Cargolux. The union explained "this warning action was necessary to make Cargolux management aware that immediate steps are required to mitigate any safety risks for the Cargolux pilots. The LCGB repeatedly demanded a strong commitment from Cargolux management to correct the blunt mistakes with regards to the trust and safety culture.
The statement continued "Instead of an essential and responsible reaction, management continues to hide behind technicalities and refuses to recognise the absolute need to deal with safety issues. The LCGB’s warning action cannot be categorised as strike in relation to the collective work agreement negotiations or a procedure at the national conciliation office (ONC). The warning action was initiated to highlight the requirement to re-establish the safety culture and trust, which is essential for the safe flight operations at Cargolux."
The LCGB also threatened further industial action cannot be ruled out "to guarantee safe flight operations".
