The NETWORK, Luxembourg's oldest international professional business women's association, has announced that it is holding its next online event on the topic "The Power of Reverse Mentoring”, on Wednesday 18 November 2020 from 19:00 to 22:00.

By 2024, about 25% of the workforce is projected to be over the age of 55. That compares to only about 12% of the workforce in 1994. In some workplaces, 55 does not even begin to signify time to retire. Those in their 60s, 70s, and even 80s are also deciding to stay in place either full- or part-time. This trend has resulted in a new phenomenon: more generations in the workplace.

Today, many workplaces are composed of four generations:

  • Baby Boomers, born between 1946 and 1964;
  • Generation X, born between 1965 and 1976;
  • Millennials, born between 1977 and 1997;
  • GenZ, born after 1997

To bridge the gap between these generations, reverse mentorship is gaining popularity with existing company mentoring programmes. And why not? It is a simple process which entails connecting employees of different generations and encouraging them to exchange ideas to bring new perspectives.

For this interactive event, The NETWORK has brought together a representative from each of the above generations to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the multi-generational workforce. Can we work in harmony and learn from each other?

Confirmed speakers include Ksenia Komarova, a market specialist for Russia at WhatsApp and Facebook, and Mara Kroth, co-founder of GoldenMe, an organisation to provide a community for people aged 50+ to prevent social isolation and connect generations.

Tickets are free for The NETWORK members and €13.95 for non-members and are available until Monday 16 November 2020 at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-network-the-power-of-reverse-mentoring-on-line-event-tickets-125791364357. All profits will be donated to The NETWORK's chosen charities supporting women in Luxembourg.
