This past weekend, the Luxembourg Swimming Federation (Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Natation et de Sauvetage - FLNS) competed at the 2021 Sette Colli international swimming festival in Rome, italy.

At the start of this comptetion, on Friday, Rémi Fabiani set a new national record. The 19-year-old finished the 50 m freestyle race in 22.54 seconds, beating Julien Henx's old record from Euro Meet 2020 by 15-hundredths of a second. He even finished wihin the Olympic B standard for Tokyo (22.67 seconds). Prior to this race, his best time had been 23.66 seconds.

Rémi Fabiani commented: “I was already happy when I saw 22 in my result. Due to the strong sunlight, I couldn't even see the numbers after the decimal point. When the result was online, I could hardly believe it, it was a brilliant race".

Fellow FLNS swimmer Joao Carneiro finished the 100 m butterfly race in 55.92 seconds - the second best time of his career so far. Raphael Stacchiotti reached the finish line after 57.68 seconds in the 100 m backstroke race. Max Mannes finished the same race in 56.04 seconds, narrowly missing his national record of 55.83 seconds, which he set at the European Championships in Budapest in May. Monique Olivier finished the 200 m freestyle race in 2:02.49 minutes.

At the end of the Sette Colli swimming festival, the entire FLNS team was on the starting blocks on Sunday. Max Mannes and Pit Brandenburger kicked off the 200 m freestyle. One day after his national record in the 50 m backstroke, Max Mannes won the team-internal duel in 1:50.68 minutes. The 23-year-old only missed two-tenths of his best time. Pit Brandenburger remained well below his potential, finishing the race in 1:54.54 minutes.

In the 200 m medley race, Raphael Stacchiotti crossed the finish line after 2:04.01 minutes and was around 1.6 seconds faster than he had been at the European Championships in Budapest. In the same competition, Joao Carneiro reached the finish line after 2:08.32 minutes. In the 200 m backstroke, Rémi Fabiani did not come close to his best time of 2:04.54 minutes, finishing the race in 2:08.03 minutes.

With her 400 m freestyle race, Monique Olivier finished the Sette Colli from a Luxembourg point of view. After 4:17.41 minutes, the 23-year-old clearly missed her best time (4:11.59 minutes), which, however, has been attributed to a one-week quarantine, which she had to serve in mid-June.
