
On Thursday 17 April 2025, Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Xavier Bettel, held bilateral meetings with representatives of the US administration during a visit to Washington DC, USA.
The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Cooperation and Foreign Trade stated in a press release that during the meetings, Minister Bettel highlighted the strong historical, diplomatic and economic ties between Luxembourg and the United States, as well as the importance of transatlantic relations based on shared commitment and mutual trust.
The Minister discussed bilateral trade between Luxembourg and the United States with the US Trade Representative, Jamieson Greer, as well as trade relations between the European Union and the United States and shared economic challenges. At the State Department, the minister met with Lisa Kenna, Acting Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs. During this meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and several current international issues, as well as shared security and technological challenges. Minister Bettel emphasised the importance of close coordination between the United States and European partners on these issues.
