The Accident Insurance Association (AAA) in Luxembourg has published its annual report for the year 2024; this document aims to provide an overview of the operation, missions, activities, statistics as well as AAA's financial results to all stakeholders.

According to the report, in 2024, 16,751 accidents were filed, including 13,724 workplace accidents, 2,889 commuting accidents and 138 occupational diseases. The AAA received an average of 128 declarations per day, with an average cost of €4,053 per accident. At the same time, the number of workers increased to 501,285, while the number of companies slightly declined to 31,085.

The AAA noted that 2024 was marked by the digitalisation of procedures via MyGuichet.lu. Since 30 September 2024, employers have been able to report workplace, commuting and school-related accidents online. Although paper submissions remain an option, the new online declaration system has been designed to meet accessibility requirements.

In the area of accident prevention, the AAA reported on the 17th edition of the Occupational Health and Safety Forum, which took place on 15 May 2024 at LuxExpo The Box. The event brought together approximately 1,500 visitors, 100 exhibitors and numerous national and international experts. The general public were able to take part in the Public Prize by voting for the five winners of the Occupational Health and Safety Award.

The AAA announced it will continue to digitalise its processes and will, in the coming years, offer insured persons the ability to track the progress of their case online and submit benefit or compensation claims electronically. This initiative forms part of the Ministry of Health and Social Security’s digitalisation strategy. To make these procedures even more accessible, the AAA announced the launch of explanatory videos for employers and insured persons, presenting step-by-step guidance on the procedures and facilitating their use.
